Small and Chic: Ideas for Decorating Your Intimate Wedding in Washington DC and Baltimore
For a lot of our couples, choosing to have a micro wedding in Baltimore or DC rather than something large and extravagant means cost savings but it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to sacrifice thoughtful decor and details. Since a lot of couples are saving time and money by booking a micro wedding, they have extra resources for a more personalized wedding day.
Below, we share the top 5 ways our Washington DC and Baltimore couples have incorporated style into their tiny wedding without breaking the bank:
Custom Cocktail Napkins and Bar Signage
Our couples love to use custom cocktail napkins to bring a personal touch to their micro wedding reception. In the past, we’ve had couples print various items on the napkins from their initials, and their wedding monogram, to an illustration of their beloved pet to fun facts about how they met! Couples have also created fun signage for their bar or buffet showcasing their signature cocktails and their food and beverage offerings for the evening. There are lots of affordable ways to create both the napkins and the signage on Etsy!
Custom Matchbooks
Not only do these look incredible at a dinner place setting or piled up high on a bar but they make wonderful (and affordable) wedding favors that guests will want to take home with them and will use! You can add your names on one side and your wedding date on the other to commemorate your tiny wedding! We also recommend Etsy for these, as well!
Personal Floral Designs
Our in-house florists offer additional designs outside of the traditional bouquet and/or boutonniere that’s already included in our DC and Baltimore all-inclusive micro wedding packages. The most affordable designs include additional boutonnieres, floral cuffs (worn as a bracelet like a corsage), child’s posies (tiny bouquets for flower girls and ring bearers), and small centerpieces and bud vases for your reception tables.
We also offer additional bouquets for your wedding party or best person and, depending on availability, small installations like ceremony arches and ground arrangements! Interested in adding additional floral designs to your micro wedding package? Let us know!
Candles and Linens
Using candles is a wonderful way to elevate your micro wedding and create a beautiful ambiance that feels both romantic and cozy. They can be used any time of the year, indoors or outdoors, weather permitting. Using candles also increases the ambient light in a room which can be lovely in photographs, as well.
Depending on availability, our incredible in-house florists can supply these for you! We also recommend sourcing linens that match your wedding day color palette for an extra flair for cocktail hour and/or your dinner tables! We love using Select Rentals for these of their wide range of styles and colors!
A Welcome Sign and Other Paper Goods
Welcome your guests to your micro wedding with a personalized welcome sign that includes your name and wedding date in the color of your wedding palette! You can easily order one of these on Etsy or have one printed at your local FedEx. We recommend purchasing an easel to accompany the sign so it has something to sit on. (Pro tip - if you anticipate wind, tie the sign to the easel using zip ties!)
Other paper goods that can elevate your micro wedding include ceremony programs, individual place settings at each guest’s seat as well as hand-written notes to each of your guests for a personal, thoughtful touch!
