C+K | Washington DC Micro Wedding at The DC War Memorial

Before we dive into the details of Chris and Krista’s micro wedding, I (Lauren, here! Owner + founder of TWS) need to give a separate round of applause for this bouquet. In my personal opinion, I think fall bouquets have the tendency to be “over done.” Heavy on the orange, heavy on the red and not much else. But Brooke from Stem + Thistle, our in-house floral designer, isn’t “just another florist.” She doesn't do “just another fall bouquet.” She creates magic. This bouquet is layered and textured and soft without being dull and vibrant without being overpowering all at once and…I’m just always so blown away by her eye and her design. (Which is probably why I’ve hired her to do the flowers at my own wedding!) And I think this really is a true testament to the power of a Tiny Wedding - you don’t have to go “big” to have “special.” And that’s what we’re all about.

Okay. Back to Chris and Krista and their beautiful hearts and beautiful ceremony. This Washington DC couple wanted to celebrate their monumental love without risking the health of their loved ones so they chose an outdoor setting - The DC War Memorial - and invited their in-town guests to witness it while staying socially distanced. The couple and the bride’s sister’s family quarantined for two weeks before their wedding so that they could spend quality time together to celebrate this momentous occasion. They zoom called their out-of-town family to watch from afar and even did a first dance in the middle of the monument. Their wedding day ended with sunset portraits along The Tidal Basin and on The National Mall and all in all it was just a really beautiful day.
