Congressional Cemetery Micro Wedding Ceremony and Intimate Dinner at Maketto on H St in Washington DC
A DC Micro Wedding With Serious Style
Some weddings are just a VIBE and K + J's Washington DC micro wedding was no exception: a sheer cape gown, hot pink shoes, a bouquet bursting with pink, orange, and yellow blooms and a pink bracelet that once belonged to the bride's grandmother, worn close on one of the biggest days of her life.
From Idea to "I Do" in Under Three Months
When K + J first came to us, they weren't just looking for a planner. They were looking for someone who could make a beautiful, intimate wedding happen fast. We love a challenge, and we love couples who know what they want, so we got to work.
From our very first conversation to the moment they said "I do" at Congressional Cemetery Chapel, the entire planning process took under three months. That's the beauty of a micro wedding done right. With a smaller guest list and a team who knows DC's best venues inside and out, there's no reason the planning has to drag on for a year. K + J are proof of that.
THE WEDDING DAY
The morning started at The Morrow Hotel, one of our favorite spots in the city for getting ready. It's stylish without trying too hard, and the light is just chef's kiss for photos. K got into her sheer cape gown, slipped on those hot pink shoes, and clasped her grandmother's bracelet around her wrist. It was the kind of quiet moment before the chaos that we live for.
Then came the curveball.
When Things Don't Go to Plan (And Why It Doesn't Have to Matter)
Here's something we don't always talk about publicly, but we think it's important: things go sideways sometimes. Even on the most carefully planned days. What matters is what happens next.
On the morning of K + J's wedding, we learned that our setup time at the venue had been cut from two hours to just 30 minutes due to an issue outside of our control. Thirty minutes to do what we had planned two hours for.
Without missing a beat, our founder, Lauren, stepped in to be an extra set of hands so that attention from our bride and groom didn’t need to be disrupted. Two teams, one seamless day.
Our bride noticed and her words meant everything to us:
“We cannot say thank you enough! The entire TWC vendor team was a dream come true to work with. No guest needed to stress anything or manage a cumbersome DIY project, they could just focus on showing up and celebrating with us. We were really able to relax, get married, and enjoy the time with our friends and family thanks to you all! Everything was perfect!”
That's the whole job, right there.
Wait…A Ceremony at a Cemetery?
Yes! Congressional Cemetery Chapel is one of those DC gems that stops people in their tracks when they see it for the first time. It's historic, intimate, and has this beautiful quiet energy that feels completely removed from the bustle of the city. For a couple who wanted something small and meaningful, it was perfect.
Our bride walked in with her grandmother's bracelet on her wrist and her colorful bouquet in hand, and we dare you to look at the photos without smiling.
An Intimate Dinner at Maketto on H St
After the ceremony, the group made their way to Maketto on H Street for an intimate dinner reception. If you haven't been, Maketto is the kind of place that feels cool without being try-hard, which is very much the energy K + J were going for. Good food, great drinks, their favorite people around one table.
What We Love Most About This Washington DC Micro Wedding
It's easy to look at a wedding like this and focus on the beautiful details, and trust us, there were plenty. But what we keep coming back to is how intentional K + J were about the whole thing. They knew what they wanted. They moved quickly and decisively. They wore their grandmother's jewelry and carried flowers in their favorite colors and chose venues that actually meant something to them.
And when the unexpected happened, they didn't panic. They trusted us. And we showed up.
That's what micro weddings can be when they're done well. Not a smaller version of a big wedding. Something entirely their own.
