DC Venue Spotlight: Lee-Fendall House
Alexandria Virginia Micro Wedding Venue
Tucked away in time, the Lee-Fendall House is a quiet, heavenly micro wedding venue full of history. Located in Old Town Alexandria, this historic property has been around for close to 200 years. From the influential Lee family to the Prohibition Era liquor dealers to labor leader John L. Lewis, the home has a rich past that is kept alive through its museum exhibits and beautifully preserved garden.
A Garden with a Past in Alexandria Virginia
The real magic happens in the garden. It is bordered by a charming, fairytale-like brick pathway and shaded by towering trees. The garden is a much needed escape from Washington DC and the perfect setting for an intimate and romantic micro wedding. With space for up to 100 guests, it is a great space for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions. Being able to hold everything on site means less stress and overwhelm.
What’s our favorite spot in the garden? Easily the Ginko and Black Walnut tree which are tucked in the back corner. Both trees were planted in 1850 and have become the most popular spot for pictures and ceremonies. They create dreamy portraits and there is nothing like getting married under trees that have witnessed so much history.
Renting the space for your virginia micro wedding
Renting the garden is simple! It’s $300 per hour and the rental period must include both set up and clean up time in addition to the time of the micro wedding. Additionally, if your guest list is under 50 then your party will have access to an indoor restroom. Whether you are looking for a scenic elopement or a full ceremony with a reception, you can tailor the timeline to fit your vision.
Bonus!
While micro wedding rentals are typically limited to the garden, there is an option to open up the first floor. This is a special opportunity for couples who are looking to dive into the historical charm of this venue and give a little extra to their guests. With advance notice and coordination with museum staff, you can arrange a self guided tour of the two main period rooms. Just note that the house remains a museum, so no tables or furniture are allowed inside but it is a lovely way to invite your guests into a private storytelling of your venue.
The Lee-Fendall House is the kind of place that stands out to couples who are in search of a venue full of history and beautiful outdoor space. It is full of beautiful greenery, historical pieces, and spots that are full of character. A truly unique option for your Virginia micro wedding that will make your day feel timeless!
